Construction Occupational Safety and Health (COSH) focuses on protecting workers in construction environments from hazards that can cause injury, illness, or death. The construction industry is one of the highest-risk sectors due to factors like working at heights, heavy machinery, electrical systems, and constantly changing job sites.

COSH combines principles from Occupational Safety and Health and applies them specifically to construction activities such as building, demolition, roadwork, and infrastructure development.

Learning Outcomes of COSH

After completing a COSH course or training, learners are expected to:

1. Understand Workplace Hazards

• Identify common construction hazards such as falls, electrical risks, and machinery-related dangers.
• Understand how these hazards lead to accidents.

2. Apply Risk Assessment Techniques

• Conduct basic risk assessments.
• Implement control measures using the hierarchy of controls (elimination, substitution, engineering controls, administrative controls, PPE).
